FAQs
How long will my treatment last for?
This is dependent on the complexity of the treatment required. However, most orthodontic treatments require 12-18 months of tooth movement.
How often will I have to attend?
Orthodontics requires regular supervision, and on average we like to see our patients every 4-6 weeks.
Will my teeth move after treatment?
You will be asked to wear retainers after treatment. Retainers are designed to keep your teeth straight. The retainers can be either fixed to the tongue side of the teeth or removable in the form of a clear aligner. You would be advised as to which variety would be best suited to your particular case.
What will happen at my first appointment?
Orthodontic treatment requires careful planning by a suitably qualified specialist. To consider all the treatment options carefully, the orthodontist will need to collect certain information about the current position of your teeth. This will involve taking some impressions of your teeth, and also X-rays and digital photographs.
Am I too old for orthodontics?
Certainly not! If you have a healthy dentition and gum condition and are motivated to achieve a better smile, age is never a barrier to brace work. Once parents see the transformation in their childrens teeth, they often decide to take up treatment themselves!
